SUMMARY:Cherry Tree Hike to Pretzfeld Keller
DESCRIPTION:Marking the launch of Global locals e.V. this introductory hike takes us through the renowned cherry-growing area around Pretzfeld\, just a short distance north of Nuremberg and at the height of the season.\nWe’ll be taking a 10.5 km route through the beautiful countryside renowned for its abundance of cherry trees. Near the end of the hike we will visit the beer cellar “Pretzfeld Keller”\, a popular destination during the summer months. \nWe invite you to join Global Locals e.V.\, our new non-profit organisation which is now organising events\, excursions\, English Stammtisch Nuremberg and administering the English Post Nuremberg social media and website. Membership is €45 for one year (special offer for our first 50 members) or €9/month. Funds go to support and continue our English Post online magazine for Nuremberg as well as planning and staging many more events in the coming weeks\, months and hopefully years. \nThis is an intermediate level hike. DESCRIPTION:Looking for a stimulating group adventure? Then join us paddling down the River Altmühl\, through the picturesque Altmühl Valley (Altmühltal) nestled just south of Nuremberg. Become one with the tranquil surroundings through which the river passes as we float\, immersed in nature’s beauty. The journey includes about 4 hours of paddling\, offering a pleasurable blend of relaxation and excitement. Along the route\, you’ll have the option to embrace the thrill of two invigorating waterslides or opt for a more relaxed passage if preferred. \nOur fleet includes a variety of watercraft\, including single-seater kayaks\, two-seater kayaks\, and a three-seater Canadian canoe. As we progress\, you’ll have the chance to switch between different boats\, enhancing your experience. To ensure an intimate and personalised adventure\, we have limited availability to just 10 spots\, allocated on a first-come\, first-serve basis. \nTo commence our journey\, we’ll depart from Nuremberg Hauptbahnhof (main station) at approximately 8:30am\, travelling by train to our starting point on the river. The return journey is scheduled for early evening. DESCRIPTION:Dear members and friends of Global Locals\, the Nuremberg quarter known as St. Johannis will soon be celebrating its traditional Kirchweih. We invite you to join in these celebrations in the idyllic setting of the Barockhäusle beer garden. Beginning with the uncorking of a beer barrel\, traditionally by Nuremberg’s Mayor himself\, you can enjoy the lively atmosphere and live music of this popular event on Friday\, June 21 from 5pm. \n📆 Friday\, June 21\n🕔 5pm–late\n📍 Barockhäusle\, Johannisstraße 47\, 90419\, Nuremberg \nIn conjunction with one of the most well-known restaurants in the area\, we have been able to reserve a table for the group at this event. Conditions apply\, and we must have a minimum of 10 people (1 table) max. 20 people (2 tables) ‘exclusively for Global Locals’. \nConfirmation and payment must be made before June 17 to assure this deal. Otherwise\, it will be impossible for such a large group to secure a table in the beer garden at this event. The price includes one beer and a grill plate beside your place at the table. \nWeather conditions:\nShould the weather conditions not be in our favour the ticket price will be available for alternative events with Global Locals. \nYour support is very important to us and we hope you will join us for this wonderful event and remember that Global Locals will continue to form strategic alliances for the growth and shared recognition of a good association.

SUMMARY:Trans Franconian-Switzerland Cycling
DESCRIPTION:Join us for this adventurous cycling tour uphill and down-dale across the scenic Franconian-Switzerland region from Pegnitz to Forchheim. We’ll take the train to Pegnitz from where we cycle westwards to Forchheim and return from there by train to Nuremberg. The route starts at 420m ASL (Pegnitz) and over the 42km rises to 550m before dropping down to 266m ASL at Forchheim. Along the way are Burgruine Leienfels\, Wolfsberg Castle and Egloffstein Castle as well as “die Rohre” a renowned tree-lined tunnel. \n–This tour is suitable for intermediate cyclists\, bikes must be in good condition with good brakes!

SUMMARY:Global Locals Cycling August | Rothsee
DESCRIPTION:Rescheduled from last weekend’s cancelled event\, join us for a cycle trip to Rothsee. We will set off from Zweirad Stadler at 10am. The expected outward journey time covering 30km is about 2.5 hours (taking it easy) primarily along the canal\, so no hills to speak of. Arriving at Rothsee around 1pm\, we have plenty of time to enjoy drinks at the water’s edge. Bathing is also possible or even paddle boarding for those with unlimited energy reserves. \n📆 Saturday\, August 24\n🕚 Set off at 10am \n📍 Zweirad Stadler\, Nopitschstraße 82\, 90441 Nürnberg \nThe return journey begins around 4pm along the cycle path to the Rothsee train station just 7km away. For those who wish to cycle back to Nuremberg\, we will return via Sperberslohe and Wendelstein (another 22km). We may call in at the Zollhaus Beer Garden for a last beer before returning home. \nWhat to Bring: \n\nSomething to sit on at the lake\nSwimwear if you fancy a dip\nSome snacks/food (either for yourself or to share)\nWater or preferred drinks; it will be a hot ride\n\nRequirements: \n\nA reasonable level of fitness\nA fully working bike\nSpare tubes compatible with your bicycle/tyres (in case of a puncture)\nA mandatory helmet for safety (we strongly recommend it too!)\n\nThis tour is weather-dependent and will only take place if the weather is suitable for bathing.
