DESCRIPTION:To kick off a new series of hikes exploring Nuremberg and the region\, we will begin with the city itself and its remarkable city walls. Throughout its history\, the walls have been developed\, expanded\, relocated\, and also destroyed. At one point\, the city was split into two sections\, each enclosed by its own wall. To delve deeper into this fascinating history\, we will take a stroll around the entire wall and visit segments of the earlier\, inner city wall. The total distance will be under 10 km. We will conclude our adventure with warming drinks at a cosy café. Join us for the launch of the series “Exploring Nuremberg.” \nMembers of Global Locals can join for free. This will take place at the Weinerei\, Königstraße 33-37\, 90402 Nuremberg\, on Monday\, December 9\, 2024\, from 8 pm.  \nMembers’ presence and participation in the future direction of Global Locals e.V. will be much appreciated. \nFollowing Melissa and Alice’s recent resignation from the Board of Directors of Global Locals e.V.\, members are probably wondering what is going on. At this meeting\, there will be ample opportunity to answer your questions. \nIn light of this development the primary purpose of this meeting is now to inform members about the present situation and importantly in seeking people willing to join the Board of Directors of Global Locals e.V.\, these roles include those of Treasurer\, Vice-Chairperson and Secretary. If anyone is interested in filling any of these roles please send an email to chris@globallocals.de \nBesides this it will also be an ideal opportunity discuss the future organisation of Global Locals e.V. taking in to consideration our experience gained so far\, as well as taking feedback from the membership. \nIt seems now appropriate to postpone changes to the Articles of Association until a new Board of Directors is in place. \n  \nThe agenda is as follows: \n\n\nWelcome and introduction \n\n\nExplanation of how income and membership fees are being used. \n\n\nProposal for changes to the Articles of the Association \n\n\na. Increase the possible number of Board members from 3 to 9 to be made up of 3 core members and 6 advisory members \nb. Regulations on how board members may be elected \nc. Expenditure/organisation of Association funds should be a unanimous decision by all core members of the Board \n\n\nFeedback and proposals from members for the future direction of Global Locals \n\n\nVote (by the Board members) \n\n\nPlease submit any additional points you would like to have added to the agenda at least 48 hours in advance of the meeting to chris@globallocals.de.

It normally takes place on the second and final Thursdays of each month. We invite both locals and internationals to join us in fostering a welcoming environment for cultural exchange. DESCRIPTION:Rescheduled from last weekend’s cancelled event\, join us for a cycle trip to Rothsee. We will set off from Zweirad Stadler at 10am. The expected outward journey time covering 30km is about 2.5 hours (taking it easy) primarily along the canal\, so no hills to speak of. Arriving at Rothsee around 1pm\, we have plenty of time to enjoy drinks at the water’s edge. Bathing is also possible or even paddle boarding for those with unlimited energy reserves. \n📆 Saturday\, August 24\n🕚 Set off at 10am \n📍 Zweirad Stadler\, Nopitschstraße 82\, 90441 Nürnberg \nThe return journey begins around 4pm along the cycle path to the Rothsee train station just 7km away. For those who wish to cycle back to Nuremberg\, we will return via Sperberslohe and Wendelstein (another 22km). We may call in at the Zollhaus Beer Garden for a last beer before returning home. \nWhat to Bring: \n\nSomething to sit on at the lake\nSwimwear if you fancy a dip\nSome snacks/food (either for yourself or to share)\nWater or preferred drinks; it will be a hot ride\n\nRequirements: \n\nA reasonable level of fitness\nA fully working bike\nSpare tubes compatible with your bicycle/tyres (in case of a puncture)\nA mandatory helmet for safety (we strongly recommend it too!)\n\nThis tour is weather-dependent and will only take place if the weather is suitable for bathing.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for this adventurous cycling tour uphill and down-dale across the scenic Franconian-Switzerland region from Pegnitz to Forchheim. We’ll take the train to Pegnitz from where we cycle westwards to Forchheim and return from there by train to Nuremberg. The route starts at 420m ASL (Pegnitz) and over the 42km rises to 550m before dropping down to 266m ASL at Forchheim. Along the way are Burgruine Leienfels\, Wolfsberg Castle and Egloffstein Castle as well as “die Rohre” a renowned tree-lined tunnel. \n–This tour is suitable for intermediate cyclists\, bikes must be in good condition with good brakes!
